There's an upcoming trip to Punggai, as usual. If you've missed the deadline for any one, there's always another - the next one is from 25 Sep - 27 Sep 09. If you don't want to go as far as Punggai, but still want to escape mainland Singapore (but after National Day...) look no further! MP Astro is organising a star-gazing at Pulau Semakau from 22 Aug -23 Aug 09, 6:30pm to 8:30am. There's a small matter of the price - $30 for non-MP Astro members. Closer still to home, there's another star-gazing at Woodlands Community Centre ( on 15 Aug 09, 7:30pm - 9:30pm.

Along with that, there's also one at Marine Parade Community Centre ( on 29 Aug 09, 7:15pm - 9:pm. More than ever, star-gazing's more convenient and accessible, and it's a lot thanks to MP Astro!

Under the Lee Kuan Yew Distinguished Visitors Programme, Lord Martin Rees will be speaking at two public lectures. Admission is free; however, registration is required at On 24 Aug 09, His Lordship will speak on "Our Universe and the Role of Life in it" at NUS; on 27 Aug 09 at NTU, he will expand on his vision of "The World in 2050", and address the issues that come with Man's advancement. That should be enough reason to listen to him.
